Encountering God Afresh as a believer
It will
accomplish two things to have a new encounter with God. It will demonstrate the
holiness of God and the wickedness of mankind. And during these interactions,
God invites His people to turn back to Him, which is the main goal of revival.
The world
seems to be getting gloomier by the minute when we look around. Morality is
vanishing, wickedness is spreading, and perversions are expanding. People are
essentially doing whatever they want and what they think is right in their own
eyes, which is a prescription for disaster according to history and the Bible.
What God Want
from Us as a Believer in Christ
It is a call
to a deeper relationship. I want you to think of the Christian life within the
framework of three calls,
1. The call to repentance and Faith. Mark 1:14-15
(NKJV)
“Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee,
preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, (15) and saying, “The time is
fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the
gospel.”
2. The call to discipleship. Luke 9:23
“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after
Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”
3. The call to go forth as a laborer. Luke 10:1-2
“After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also,
and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He
Himself was about to go. (2) Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great,
but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out
laborers into His harvest.”
God desires our hearts
and wants us to have a closer relationship with Him, and Job’s story
illustrates this in excruciating slow motion. He desires our dedication and our
friendship in life, not the elaborate religious structures we construct in
place of that close personal connection.
